I join all those who are mourning the loss of our dearest Debbie. I spent
the day yesterday weeping and searching for the right words befitting of
someone so special. Words do not come easily. I was humming various tunes
that welled up inside me - sad ones.

I first corresponded with Debbie in 2004 when Tex put us in touch at a time
when my piggie Tootsie was recovering from gut stasis, just after one of
hers had gone through this. I had mentioned in our 'conversation' about my
father battling cancer, and she then shared her own battle of cancer. I
never thought it would have ended this way so soon for someone so young.

God, I thank you for Debbie and the large heart you gave her - she lived big
and loved big; for the brave heart that she was; for the friend she was to
all your creatures; to those on this list and others. I am thankful for how
she encouraged others; for the wonderful stories she shared of both pain and
triumph. I thank you for Pete and Sarah by her side; may you comfort them
and the family and all their creatures now and in the days and weeks ahead.
Thank you for the blessing Debbie's life was to us all. Please tell her we
all love her. I thank you that all that Debbie was and still is will
forever be a part of each one of us and these precious creatures.

I can picture Debbie at a large pignic, surrounded by all who went before
her; she is laughing and smiling in the sunshine.

We will miss her so very much.

This is one song that brought me comfort yesterday. There are many versions
of this on youtube, but this one reminded me of Debbie somehow:
