Stacy and the grieving Squee Squad We were so very sorry to hear of the
departure for the Rainbow Bridge of your Senior Citizen Ageing Miracle
Pig, 5-year-old Willie. We can understand how extra heartbreaking this
will be coming so close behind the departures of Tigger and LuLu Belle -
we have had periods like this ourselves when there just seems to be one
departure after another, and one gets almost scared to look in the cage
in case another tragedy has occurred. Sadly, as you say, it is one of the
costs we pay for enjoying the company of a larger herd, especially if, as
in our case, the majority were all acquired round about the same time. It
sounds as though Willie was a real little fighter, and he was obviously
enjoying his life there with you, which is why he struggled for so long
to stay with you. We do understand what you mean about him seeming to be
no longer himself over the past few days. Did his eyes seem to have
sunken a little into his skull? This happened to our Zebra, and the
rodentologist said it was a common sign that a piggie was very seriously
ill, although we have had many other piggies seriously ill and this was
the first time we had seen that. You did all you could for your dear
Willie, and we are certain he will have known how very dearly he was
loved. That he was a SCAMP of almost 6 years old is a tribute to the
excellent care you lavished on him as his slave, and we hope you have
many happy memories of those years you spent together. We understand
exactly how devastated you will be feeling, and realise our mere words
can offer little solace, but please find some grains of comfort in ther
fact that piggie slaves all over this globe are thinking of you at this
very sad time, sharing your sense of grief and wishing you well. Debbie
and the 8 Dolly Mixtures

"We patronize them for their incompleteness,
for their tragic fate of having taken a form so far below ourselves.
And therein we err, and greatly err.
For the animal shall not be measured by man.
In a world older and more complete than ours
they move finished and complete, gifted
with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained,
living by voices we shall never hear.
They are not brethren, they are not underlings;
they are other nations, caught with ourselves
in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners
of the splendour and travail of the earth".
