Alge asked about using Imodium for piggies. I don't rush to use this at the first sight of diarrhoea, preferring to withhold greens for a day or two if the piggy is otherwise bright and eating but it has its place in my piggy first aid box. For a nasty bout of diarrhoea you can give 0.8ml of liquid Imodium. If needed another dose can be given after 8 hours but NO MORE. If that doesn't work seek expert help. It is handy to have in an emergency such as when the vet is closed until Monday morning. There are many other remedies for diarrhoea, including antibiotics and many of you know that I like my herbal "potions".

Re painkillers. I have used oral Metacam too but my first choice of painkiller is Children's Liquid Nurofen. Piggy dose is 0.4ml twice daily. This can be bought over the counter in England and comes in orange flavour which they all seem to enjoy. For a stronger one I have Rimadyl, which my Satin was taking for her OD but that needs to come from the vet.

I am assuming here that the strength of these remedies is the same in all countries.
