I have found another way of preparing food for piggies needing syringe
feeding. I have bought a little blender (it holds about a cupful) and I put
the dry mix in there and whizz it round, and it makes a wonderfully smooth
paste with water which is easy to syringe. I have been mixing Gerty Guinea
Pig carrot and cranberry, Wagg Guinea Pig Crunch and Pascoe's Guinea Pig
Goodness (which has Profeed, a prebiotic). This works well; an ordinary
blender would scatter it all over the inside of the container, but as this
one is fairly small it is easy to use. It is also possible to add Critical
Care or Science Recovery to the mix. I take the alfalfa out of the Gerty
Guinea Pig, because that does tend to get stuck in the syringe, but
otherwise it all goes smoothly through the syringe without the need to cut
off the end. It also has the benefit of being a familiar aroma and flavour
to our little convalescing ones, who sometimes "go off" Critical Care or
Science Recovery.

It also chops up salad into small pieces (but doesn't "juice" them - I use a
separate juicer for that). The blender is by Philips and is called the "Twist".
